Why did Ald. Helen Shiller (46th Ward) help a guy who threatened to shoot someone get back on CPD's hiring list? Other aldermen are guilty of using their clout to reinstate people who were removed from the CPD hiring lists, and they are too often put back on, as Shiller's buddy was... The Sun-Times has a bombshell story today: Dozens of applicants made the hire list despite drug records, battery arrests and rejections from other departments... Many of those returned to the hiring list are related to current or retired cops who spoke on their behalf. Three times, aldermen successfully went to bat for rejected applicants.
