A brilliant posting by Craig Gernhardt today sums up what many of us in Chicago's embattled 49th Ward have believed for years now: Alderman Joe Moore would rather be a Congressman. He obviously hates his current job. Why not move on, eh?
Craig writes: Moore's return to his rose-garden strategy for development issues clearly signals his intense interest in a possible appointment to the US Congress. (Full Post...)
Yep, and this on the heels of confirmation that Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky would rather be a U.S. Senator (see Schakowsky Makes Play for Obama's Seat). Here's the catch:
Neither Moore or Schakowsky would be elected to their new, higher offices. Nope. They would be appointed, you see, by failed Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (see President Obama's Impact on the 49th Ward).
No wonder these well-entrenched, long-time machine Democrats are working so hard to get Obama elected. Obama claims to want "change" in government. That's darkly amusing, given that he owes his rise in politics entirely to the well-entrenched, long-time machine Democrat Machine in Chicago and the Combine in Springfield. The most immediate change that Obama's presidency would bring would be a quick game of musical chairs in Illinois. We can only hope that if this comes to pass, there will be splinters waiting for the asses that take their new seats.
