Detroit Mayor's Apology "Too Little, Too Late"

You wouldn't want to be Kwame Kilpatrick right now. The Detroit Mayor has got to be one of the dumbest men alive. First, he was dumb enough to get involved in an extramarital affair. Second, he was dumber still to do it while being the mayor of a major city. Third, he was an idiot for letting the scandal simmer for so long before breaking his silence about it. But break it he did, on Wednesday in a televised address to Detroit. He made his speech from a church, but that probably didn't score him any points with God. Earlier, the mayor had pledged to appeal. In the September circuit court trial, former Deputy Chief Gary Brown and Officer Harold Nelthrope won a $6.5-million verdict. They said Kilpatrick ruined their careers for their involvement in an investigation that could have exposed his extramarital affairs, including with his chief of staff Christine Beatty.
