The CTA should be ashamed of themselves. They're not, of course. If they had any shame, any virtue, they would have been keeping up repairs over the past 50 years. Instead, they've allowed many, many overpasses (which are bridges) go to hell.
One good example it the CTA overpass by Loyola University in Rogers Park, Chicago on N. Sheridan Road. Motorists driving north and south on Sheridan pass under the overpass/bridge, and many worry that a chunk of concrete will fall on their car. Riders on the Red Line and Purple Line, both of which pass over the rotting structure, hope the thing doesn't collapse while they're on it.
The CTA is very good at spending big money to "beautify" touristy stations such as the Chicago Red Line station. They are very bad at maintaining infrastructure, as these photos prove. CTA is also lousy at making their stations ADA compliant. Shame, shame, shame. And these SOB's want to raise your fare. They ought to be driven out of town on a rail.
